SUBSTRATE: mostly epiphyte, on tree trunks and branches.
CHARACTERISTICS: grey; apothecia rare, soredia very frequent and abundant; rather common species, with white soredia all over the thallus, well separated on the youngest areas (margins), coalescing in the oldest ones, with a characteristic bitter flavor (tested by tasting the dust from the soredia).
NAME’S ORIGIN: Latin pertūsus, perforated; ămārus, bitter.
