OCCURRENCE: breeding resident.
CHARACTERISTICS: light brown body; long whitish neck; short curved beak; dark legs.
FOOD: carcasses, especially of mammals.
ECOLOGY AND BEHAVIOUR: scavenger; flies mainly in the hottest hours of the day, taking advantage of rising hot air currents to glide; forms flocks of dozens of individuals.
